AND THEY'RE OFF!! |
There was some confusion as to why this truck was sitting here. It was said that the NRPD had pulled it over and it was also said that the NRPD was helping it because it was broke down....now...knowing the NRPD....my personal guess would be... it broke down and the NRPD was writing them a ticket for INSPECTION FAILURE, NON- EMERGENCY STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING, OBSTRUCTING OR IMPEDING TRAFFIC, PARKING IN A HANDICAP ZONE (since this is the only good piece of sidewalk in all 3 blocks) STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING WHERE IMPROPER, and UNSAFE CONDITION OF VEHICLE...but that's just my guess. |
About 15 feet into New Rome (watch out you're almost half way thru...) the NRPD had pulled up onto the sidewalk. One of the marchers approached the vehicle and questioned why they had blocked the sidewalk. Supposedly the NRPD replied that he was interfering with police business. When the marcher continued to question their actions, Cpl. Peter Hippard exited the vehicle and asked the man if he had identification on him. |
|
The man replied that he did have ID, but as far as I could tell did not show Cpl. Hippard. Good for him!!! By now, the Columbus Dispatch, newromesucks staff and the news channels were documenting the situation. |

After a few
more seconds of exchange between the marcher and the officer, another NRPD
officer came over and told Cpl. Hippard to let him go.
YAY!! ONE FOR US!!
